The Preschool Program

In addition to the General Program Goals of focusing on the needs of the whole child (mind, body and spirit), the following are the goals of Destiny Now’s Preschool Programs:

Academic Expectations
Children enrolled in preschool programs are encouraged to do their best. Progress reports are completed and sent home quarterly and optional Parent/Teacher conferences will be held in the fall and spring.
 
Curriculum
Destiny Now Preschool is committed to teaching from a biblical perspective. Our programs use ABeka curriculum and address the child’s individual social, emotional, spiritual and academic needs at a pace and in the security of a preschool environment.
Students meet monthly for chapel where they experience worship and a lesson from one of the staff or outside speakers.
All classes will develop children’s abilities in large motor skills, fine motor skills, language skills, social, emotional, self-help skills, and pre-academic skills while continuing to promote pretend play, art, music and movement.

Academic Goals
We introduce these to our 3 year olds and our 4 year olds master them:

All of our 4 and 5 year old programs offer these:
• Writing student’s first name (practicing last name)
• Learning students phone number
• Writing the alphabet
• Writing numbers 1-20
• Pre-reading skills
• Comprehension
• Introduction to time
• Value of money
• Right hand & Left hand
• Reciting the months of the year
• Reciting Christian Character traits (Fruits of the Spirit)
• Household and recreational safety
• Pre-math concepts (grouping, adding, subtracting)
• Science experiments
• Language development (new vocabulary work weekly)
• Daily art
• Daily music
 
Extra Curricular Activities
• Preschool Fun & Educational Field Trips.
• Chapel – Once a month we will meet for chapel. The children will have fun participating during certain chapel services. Special guest speakers will also visit throughout the year.
• Fun guest speakers will visit Destiny Now Preschool throughout the year. Some examples may include a fireman, a pilot, a clown, and a policeman.
• Thanksgiving Feast – the week before Thanksgiving, Destiny Preschool students create pilgrim and Native American costumes to wear during their sit down Thanksgiving Feast. All of the children will participate in the festiviaties.
• Spring Fling – the week before Easter the children will celebrate spring and all the adventure it brings.
• Fall/Winter: Muffins for Mom, Spring: Donuts for Dad, Summer: Water Play & Ice Cream Social
 
3 Year Olds
Child must be 3 years old by Dec. 1st, and toilet trained.

4 Year Olds
Child must be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1st.

5 Year Olds (Transitional Kindergarten)
Destiny Now Preschool offers a Transitional Kindergarten Class. This class will meet the needs of children who are either not ready for kindergarten, or do not meet the age requirement of regular kindergarten. The 5 year old program is a transitional kindergarten program and is more academically advanced than our 3 and 4 year old preschool programs. The program is designed to prepare children for Kindergarten in the security of a preschool environment. In order to qualify for our Transitional Kindergarten program your child must turn five years old by Dec. 31st.
